dc.descriptionIn April 1940 he made he way to Germany as an agent for the IRA. A month later a German officer, Dr. Hermann Goertz arrived in Ireland by parachute and was placed for safety in Mr. Held's house. A few weeks later the house was raided and Goertz escaped throught the back gardens. Held was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison.en_IE
