During WW1 silk postcards were bought as souvenirs by soldiers from local French and Belgian women. The women embroidered the different motifs onto strips of silk which were sent to factories to make postcards using the piece of silk mounted onto a card. The card has embossed edges and shows a bluebird with holly and mistletoe, and bears a "Christmas Greetings" messageen_IE
