Description: Irish War News - Volume 1, No. 1, Dublin, Tuesday 25th April 1916. When the GPO was occupied on Easter Monday, Patrick Pearse set about organising the printing of a newspaper announcing the rebellion to the people. The premises of a printer in Halston Street were used to produce this, the Irish Republic's first newspaper. It was the only Republican newspaper produced during the rebellion, written by Pearse himself in the GPO while under fire. The last page (Stop Press) contains an account of the events of Easter Monday.
