Issue Date: 1922
Description: Letter to Archbishop Byrne advising him of the arrest of Rev. Dr. P Brown of Maynooth College. Brown was found at the premises of Cumann na Poblachta at 23 Suffolk Street in the company of Mary McSwiney, Mrs. K. Clarke and Miss Barry. He gave the CID arresting party a false name Fr. Perry, and subjected them to a "considerable amount of unpriestly abuse". This, and the presence of several seditious documents in the room led to his arrest. The clergyman refused to sign an undertaking (set out in the letter) not to take arms against the government.
