dc.descriptionPortrait of Francis Courtenay Marsh in the uniform of the Border regiment. Inscribed 'With Best Love to Aunt Allie from her affectionate nephew, Courtenay. January 1915. (It's a poor heart that never rejoices). He was the son of Susan Agnes Marsh (Nee Scott) Susan Agnes Scott was the daughter of General Sir Hopton Stratford Scott and Mary Davie-Bassett. Francis Courtenay Marsh was a veteran of the Waziristan campaign 1894-95. He was killed in action while leading his men at Gallipoli on the 7th of August 1915. He was 48 years of age.
