Lowe: 2/Royal Irish Regt "B.E.F. 21.7.16 Dear Sir, This hurried note is merely to confirm the very sad news which you will have had direct from the War Office that Lieut. He was killed in a very gallant manner when holding a portion of a trence which we had previously captured against a very strong enemy counter attack, and all through a very trying time behaved in a most courageous manner and showed a very fine example to his men. His deat was instantaneous and caused by a machine gun bullet through the heart. I cannot tell you sir how deeply we feel his loss and sympathise with you in your bereavement. I remain, Yours Sincerely, Lowe (Capt. & Adjt) Colonel Finlay Corkage [sic] Clondalkin."en_US
