Christmas letter from the front
Issue Date: 18-Dec-1917
Description: Letter from John Davie Scott to his mother in Locksley, Shankill. Mentions of Christmas Greetings, hopes that next Christmas will be cheerier. He thinks that men at the front have a better time than those at home with "warm shelter...plenty of wood to burn and ample rations". He is back in rest billets and had a pleasant time in the line with no casualties. He talks of a visit by John Redmond's namesake cousin. Redmond's uncle received a present of tea from Ceylon which attracted the attention of Customs. He was threatened with 5 years jail.
