Irish Comic
Issue Date: 1953
Description: Éire, Sean is Nua (meaning “Ireland, old and new”) is a 48-page Irish language comic produced by the Irish Christian Brothers and published by M. H. Mac Guill agus a Mhac in Dublin around 1953. The comic presents a partisan history of Ireland, spanning from the Neolithic era to the War of Independence (with minimal mention of the Civil War). It envisions a pious, prosperous, and Irish-speaking future within a reunified 32-county Irish state, led by the Church. The artist is likely George Altendorf, and the cover is recycled from a 1941 issue of Our Boys, possibly signed by someone named "O’Leary".
