| Description: | Interior endsheet of untitled, unlined, black leather bound notebook (with lined gilt edging surround on front cover). The pastedown endsheet contains the following transcription in various hands; "Hopton Bassett Scot - 9th Regiment. 1957. " In a different hand/pen, "This manuscript was compiled prior to the book "Memorials of the family of Scotts of Scot Hall" pubd. London, 1876. & compiled by Mr. James Renat Scott, F.S.A." In the first pen again, the writing continues "Pedigrees and history of the families of Scotts and Bassets", which is underlined in a wavy line of pen. The handwritten text in the notebook contains various 19th century entries from a number of hands, covering the origin of the Scott family and the genealogy and heraldry associated with the family, along with some genealogical notes and questions. |
