Interior leaves, with a handwritten letter in an untitled, unlined, black leather bound notebook (with lined gilt edging surround on front cover) stuck in with stamp edging. The letter discusses 17th century genealogy of the Scott family, mentioning the Scotts' Hall Pedigree, a Sir Thomas Scott and how he married Caroline, daughter of Sir George Carteret [?], Hopton Scott [founder name of the Scott family] and the origin of the Christian name "Hopton". The handwritten text in the notebook as a whole contains various ink-pen entries from a number of hands, covering the origin of the Scott family, the genealogy and heraldry associated with the family, along with some genealogical notes and questions, and letters in full on the same subjects.
