Description: | John Gorman joined the Irish Army in Athlone at the age of 16 years. The following year he was sent to the Congo on an Irish Peacekeeping Mission with the 35th Infantry Battalion, under the command of Pat Quinlan from Waterville, Co. Kerry. He describes his experiences during the Battle of Jadotville, which he strongly feels was an unjustified embarrassment to the United Nations and to the Irish government. He has been tirelessly campaigning for many years to have the excellent leadership of his Commanding Officer, Pat Quinlan, recognised. |
