Description: | Single-arch road bridge over canal, 1791. Coursed rubble walls with dressed ashlar quoins, parapet and voussoirs to segmental arch. Towpath to south, pier bearing rope-cut grooves and benchmark. Pipe attached to west face over arch. Carved granite plaques above keystones, inscriptions now illegible. Appraisal This bridge is a fine example of a rural canal bridge, retaining its narrow width where others have been widened for modern traffic needs. |
