dc.descriptionOral history interview. Pat (Patricia) O'Neill, Age 87, Tallaght. Subject: Memories of Old Tallaght Village. Pat O'Neill grew up in Tallaght Village. She has spent all her life there. She recalls her father's trade as a carpenter. Her family was deeply involved in political affairs, her father strongly supported Fianna Fail and her mother Fine Gael. Her memories stretch back to the 1932 Eucharistic Congress, the Hungry Thirties caused by De Valera's economic policies and the Emergency Period. She speaks about her working life in Urney's Chocolate factory and her memories of changes in the village of Tallaght are revealed in this recording.
