dc.descriptionOral history interview. John Caufiled, Age 79, Firhouse. Subject: Recollections of a retired school teacher. John Caulfield is a native of Co Mayo. He took up a position as a teacher in Firhouse School in 1955. In this recording he recalls his teaching career. He speaks about the changes in teaching practices over the years and the growth of the school from being a two-teacher school to having a staff of 23 teachers on his retirement as Principal. He also gives a brief account of the history of the place, the sporting activities and the pastimes, and describes Templeogue Village as it was when he arrived there over half a century ago.
