Description: | J. Sadler's artistic depiction of the strongly fortified Pigeon House Fort and Barracks c.1824 which was situated half way between Ringsend and the Poolbeg Lighthouse. Adjacent to the fort there was a 900 feet x 450 feet harbour basin originally intended for a mail packet station, which declined in importance when Howth and Dun Laoghaire harbours were built. |
