The NLI cites Maurice Craig in his book "James Malton's Dublin Views" (The Dolmen Press, Dublin, 1981) as stating that this finely detailed print is in fact a view of the approach to Dublin from the sea, as the Custom House can be seen in the far distance upriver on the right hand side of the print. |
