Description: British War Medal, Albert Medal for Bravery in silver with parchment, pocket watch and newspaper article. Items belonging to then 33 year old father of eight Stoker William Maher, R.M.S. Leinster who, despite severe exhaustion, saved three people after the ship was torpedoed. One, Dorothy Toppin (then 13 years old)presented him later in life with a pocket watch inscribed with her gratitude for his actions.
