Cur Síos: Slide : one of a collection of lantern slides shown at Clondalkin branch library c 1910. Description given in booklet: The houses have a sombre look, and are built, as can be seen, with a view to their being easily defended in case of necessity. The only opening into the street on the ground level is a narrow archway, in which is fitted a strong door barred with iron, which is never opened except when absolutely necessary. (This particular house is said, by an idle tradition, to be the one referred to in the parable of the rich man). The upper windows are large and many of them project beyond the wall, and as this is a style that has come down from ages, we can form an idea of the window from which Paul was lowered in a basket when escaping from Damascus.
