Cur Síos: | Aerial view of the "Spire of Loyd" in Kells, Co. Meath taken by RAF biplane. The 100 feet high tower is in the form of a lighthouse and standson the outskirts of the town of Kells. It was built in the late 18th century by the lst Earl of Bective. Image from a photo album compiled by Capt. Norman H Dimmock of the Royal Flying Corps. In March 1919 he was second-in-command of No. 141 Squadron RAF, when they moved from Biggin Hill to Tallaght, He was demobbed soon after, but rejoined the RAF in 1920 and was posted back to Ireland, with No. 100 Squadron at Baldonnel. His flying days were ended by a serious crash at Castlebar |
