Description: Oral history interview. Interview with Mairín Gallagher, née McGrath, who qualified as a teacher from Carysfort College and was later appointed principal to the Virgin Mary School in Ballymun. Before this, Mairín worked as a chemical supplier for Jim Hayes in Cork Street, who introduced her to Redmond Gallagher, managing director of Urney Chocolates, whom she later married. During the interview, Mairín is joined by Karen Nolan, granddaughter of Redmond Gallagher. Life in the Gallagher family, up until Redmond's death in 2006 is discussed in light hearted detail. Redmond's early life at Urney Chocolates, his passion for cars and car racing, and his various enterprises involving racehorses and cattle are affectionately described. The length of this interview is forty eight minutes and eighteen seconds.
