Byrne (1876-1939), Clerk and Architect of South Dublin District Rural Council and, subsequently, Principal Architect in the Office of Public Works. Main area of focus is his work on the Carnegie Libraries in Whitechurch and Clondalkin, as 2011 is their centenary year, but also addresses his work on public housing in Rathfarnham, Tallaght, Chapelizod and Mount Brown, as well as his pivotal role in the reconstruction of the Four Courts, the Custom House and the GPO in Dublin city. Provides context for his work as part of the wider 'Arts and Crafts' movement.
