Description: View of the front elevation of the General Post Office (G.P.O.), O'Connell Street, Dublin. Originally built by Francis Johnston (1814-18), then rebuilt after its destruction in 1916 by the Office of Public Works, under a design team led by T.J. Byrne. Visible are replacement casts of Edward Smyth's pediment statues of (l-r) Mercury, Hibernia and Fidelity (originals damaged in 1916). Greek ionic hexastyle portico in Portland stone.
