Cur Síos: Detached five-bay two-storey former gate lodge, c.1800, now used as a private house. Roughcast rendered walls, with shallow recessed double-height arch having high parapet to east gable end. uPVC casement windows. uPVC door in flat-roofed porch. Pitched slate roof. Rubble stone wall to north with window openings and block and start doorway, all now blocked. Later two-bay wing to west forming L-plan. Appraisal A simple, substantial former gate lodge for the now demolished Tourville House, with an impressive wall treatment to the east gable, indicating the original importance of this elevation. Preserves the old street line in this quiet corner of Rathfarnham village. The fact that it was a Police Station and School during the War of Independence enhances the historic significance of this interesting building.
