Description: Oral history interview. Joe Devine, Age 79, Clondalkin. Subject: Memories of a local historian. Joe Devine is a native of Ballinakill, Co. Galway. When he was ten years old the family moved to Ballycumber, Co. Offally, where he attended primary school, and later he was educated by the Christian Brothers at Ballyfin, Co. Laois. He studied at University College Galway, attaining degrees in several disciplines. He was appointed principal of a primary school in Cavan. He later moved to work with Obalates in Inchicore as Vice Principal in 1956. In this recording Joe speaks at length about polytopes, and he describes his visits to schools, organised by the Department of Education, teaching the subject.
