Description: | Free State soldiers in North Earl Street Dublin sitting among the remains of a destroyed shop. One holds a Webley Revolver, the one in the background holds a Lee Enfield rifle with a grenade launching attachment visible at the top. This was used in conjunction with a special blank round and enabled a Mills bomb (grenade) to be launched further than would be possible if thrown by hand in the normal way. |
