Cur Síos: Unnamed woman gives an account of black and tan raids in Tallaght when she was young. Description of the village in her youth including shop names. Local reaction at that time to the new housing and new communities. Visiting other people’s houses for dancing and entertainment. Another unnamed woman interviewed. Descriptions of Tallaght, motor car racing in the 1950s. Lack of social life. Doyle’s Hall dances. Closeness of the community then. Initial hostility towards new communities and the gradual accepance afterwards. “Old and New Tallaght” Mistake of new estates built without facilities. Inner City people difficulties settling in Tallaght. She is asked if any improvements could be implemented to make life easier. Contributions of older people to the community not encouraged. Difficulty surrounding accessibility to buses. Discussion around the satisfaction level of older people in Tallaght in their new surroundings. What is a “Real Tallaght Person” Third unnamed woman asked the same questions as the two previous. Social life etc. Lived in a caravan beside Doyle’s Hall until she could afford to buy a house.
